Gold Mine Saloon — Historic Restoration, French Quarter

This project involved working closely with the client and the Vieux Carré Commission to preserve, repair, and restore both interior and exterior elements of a historic French Quarter bar. The building’s age, materials, and protected status required careful coordination, traditional craftsmanship, and respect for the structure’s original character. Phase one focused on stabilizing and restoring the first floor exterior of the building, including the framing, masonry, stucco, shutters, storefronts, and carriage entrance.

The upcoming phase expands the scope to additional structural and architectural elements throughout the building, including brickwork at the chimneys, addressing deterioration and ensuring long‑term stability. Welding and repair of the wrought‑iron railings, preserving original ironwork while restoring strength and appearance, Complete refurbishment—and in some cases full reconstruction—of 18 pairs of shutters, each built or repaired to match historic profiles and meet VCC standards, Additional carpentry, including fascia, soffit, siding, and trim work, all executed with historically appropriate materials and detailing and full exterior painting, unifying the restored elements and protecting the building envelope.
